About Me
Hi there! My name is Donna and I am a baker and cake decorator in the Southern California area. I would like to welcome you to my site in which I am currently using as a portfolio to display all of my cakes and creations.
I currently create cakes and confections for friends and acquaintances and am always up for the challenge of creating something unique and special for new friends as well. I always say, you can't have to many friends!
I began the love of baking in my early teens and following that came my love of decorating cakes. I quickly learned that as beautiful as a cake looks on the outside, the taste must equally match on the inside. I then decided that taking a few classes in baking and pastry from Le Cordon Bleu and The Art Institue of California would set me on my way. Although some courses touched lightly on decorating, I had a desire to learn above and beyond of what I was shown, and decided it was time that I become self taught when it came to cake art. I am now completely self taught and proud of what I was able to learn through books, research and trial and error. To this day, I still continue to push my limits and learn all that I can about this wonderful world of cake.
Over the years I have been most interested in teaching others to bake and create their own masterpieces. I greatly enjoy going to the homes of my friends and teaching them how to bake and decorate their own works of art to display to their own family and friends. There is nothing like the feeling of learning something unique, creating it, and displaying it at your celebration for everyone to gush over! :) I love teaching anyone who has the heart to learn. Anyone can do it with just a little instruction, patience and practice.
In my spare time, my love of teaching has lead me to be a guest at our local Christian high school where I have taught students the beginning concepts of baking and cake decorating. I teach them the importance of baking from scratch using the freshest and finest ingredients. I love working with the kids and will continue to do so as long as I am invited. My dream is that everyone will take on this love, and begin baking and cooking out of their own kitchens again. Sadly, you just don't see alot of baking and cooking in our kitchens anymore. :(
I am also a proud member of the California Cake Club (CCC) and I enjoy a good challenge. I love to compete in baking and decorating contests and am excited to say that I have taken first place in many!
Everything that I make is from scratch using the best quality ingredients. Absolutely everything is edible on all that you see in my photos. I am a firm believer that everything on a cake is meant to be eaten. No fake stuff here!
